Are Essential Oils Safe?
Historically, Essential Oils have been widely used for medicinal and cosmetic applications because of the antiviral, antibacterial, antimicrobial (just to name a few) constituents compounds in plants. However, it is important to use caution with oils as they are powerful and potent. 1 drop of Peppermint is the equivalent of 28 cups of peppermint tea. When using oils on your skin, always watch for redness and dilute with a carrier oil. Carrier Oils are fatty oils like olive oil or coconut oil. With littles, always dilute because their skin is sensitive and more permeable and the oils absorb more quickly. Carrier oils increase the level of absorption because they have a more dense molecular structure than the volatile compounds in the oils. However, essential oils are lipophilic in nature. Being fat-soluble they easily penetrate the membrane of the cells and can be rapidly absorbed by the skin.
The two places to NEVER put essential oils are in your eyes or deep inside your ear canal. If you want to target these areas you can use the Vita Flex points on the bottom of your feet or hands. You can also place a drop of EO on a cotton ball and let it rest gently in the outer part of the ear.
If you do get EOs in your eye, put a carrier oil directly in your eye where the essential oil is to eliminate the sting. If you don’t have anything handy give it a little time and let your tears flush it out. *Do NOT flush with water. It will not help, and can make it worse.
How do I use essential oils?
There are many different ways to use your essential oils.
Inhalation is the best way to reach the limbic system, the part of the brain directly linked to your emotions (such as anger, happiness, and fear) and memories. When you inhale an essential oil, it takes 22 seconds to reach your brain. Inhaling essential oils can uplift your mood almost immediately.

When you apply EOs directly on your skin, they absorb easily into your body, reaching the bloodstream in 2-3 minutes and every cell in the body within 20 minutes.

Apply topically on the area you need support
If you want to cover a larger area, mix EO with more carrier oil to spread it farther. You still only need to start with 1-2 drops of EO per application.
